Let's talk concerts. Yesterday, we headed out to the Zoo Amphitheatre to catch the Thirty Seconds to Mars show. It was a packed house, warm temps, and a great show. We knew Walk the Moon was opening for them but had no idea that Welshly Arms would be kicking things off with K. Flay in the second slot. Honestly, after watching all of the opening sets, I think they could all headline their own show and their energy was off the hook. They whole night was great and if you have the opportunity, you should check them out.
BUT, that's not why I'm writing this post. Whatever happened to earning your way to the front of "the pit" and then having to keep it? Back in the day, for a couple years, I went to at least a show a week and if we wanted to be in the pit and move up, we earned that spot. Last night, you saw people get in the pit, then go get a drink or go to the restroom, walk out of the pit, and then expect to just be let right back in the same place. Is that how things go now days? It's THE PIT, you can't save a seat in the pit. I've been smashed against the rail in some great shows and never was that place gifted to me, and I don't think the experience or the memory would be as great if it had been.
